Client: A leading software development company
Location: Reno, NV
Timeframe: March 2025–Present
Project Overview:
CBRE | Direct Line continues to set the standard for precision, scalability, and execution in complex data center infrastructure builds.
- March 2025: Initiated the first Day 2 project at our Reno, NV site. Ramped up to 30 technicians at peak activity; 16 technicians remain on site to complete the remaining Day 2 work.
- August 2025: Launched the second project, deploying 30 technicians over a two-month period to meet accelerated delivery goals.
- January 2026: Planned mobilization for the third greenfield build – A new data center project, targeting a 10-month duration, $26 million contract value, and installation of 43,000+ linear feet of high-strand-count cable.
- April 2026: Scheduled mobilization for the fourth greenfield build – A new data center project, with an 80 to 100-technician team to support expansion efforts.
Challenge:
The Reno, NV data center market is one of the most competitive in the country, with multiple hyperscalers operating in close proximity. This high concentration creates significant resource constraints, making it difficult to secure qualified technicians locally. Additionally, Reno’s cost of living exceeds the national average, limiting the number of candidates willing to relocate for extended project work.
The CBRE | Direct Line Approach:
CBRE | Direct Line addresses these challenges with a strategic, people-first approach designed to ensure staffing continuity and project success:
- Targeted Incentives: Offer relocation bonuses to technicians from other high-cost-of-living regions, such as the Bay Area.
- Flexible Staffing Models: Provide seasonal and travel-based opportunities for technicians who prefer short-term or rotational assignments.
- Nationwide Resource Network: Mobilize skilled travelers from across the country to maintain consistent workforce coverage.
- Recruiting + Marketing Collaboration: Partner cross-functionally to launch strategic recruiting campaigns, expanding and improving the candidate pool.
- Comprehensive Training: Deliver structured, on-the-job training programs months before mobilization, including client-specific coursework and hands-on experience at other project sites under expert mentorship.
Through this integrated approach, CBRE | Direct Line ensures every project is staffed with qualified, trained professionals ready to deliver with pace, intensity, and precision.
Results:
CBRE | Direct Line’s proven execution and reliability quickly strengthened our client partnership in Reno.
- After successfully delivering the first Day 2 project in early 2025, with a peak team of 30 technicians, the client invited us to take on additional work based on our performance.
- By August 2025, we launched a second project, again deploying 30 technicians. Before completion, the client requested our support on two upcoming new-build projects, reflecting full confidence in our delivery.
- Beginning January 2026, CBRE | Direct Line will mobilize approximately 25 technicians for the third greenfield project, followed by a ramp-up of 80-100 technicians for the fourth greenfield build in April 2026.
Our ability to deliver high-quality results on aggressive timelines has positioned CBRE | Direct Line as a trusted long-term partner for this hyperscale client, creating opportunities for continued program growth, regional expansion, and sustained workforce placement.
