I have been with DL for 6 years, 3 as a lead and 3 in safety.
What kind of education and training did your career require?
I attained the following certifications:
- BICSI LEVEL 3
- OSHA 30
- OSHA 510
- Incident investigation
What do you think is needed to be successful in your role?
Communication with the workers and customers on the day-to-day safety requirements.
What does a typical day look like for you at Direct Line?
I start at 6:30 a.m. The first thing is to check on all the work being done. Then, I ensure all the housekeeping items are completed, all PPE is worn, and SAFETY is followed.

Tell us about your career path at Direct Line.
I started as a technician, worked my way up to a lead/foreman position, and then joined the safety team.
What inspired you to pursue a career in technology?
I love building infrastructure in data halls and testing fiber and copper cables.
What do you love most about what you do?
I love training, coaching, and motivating people on safety. It’s a day-to-day process.
What are your interests outside of work?
God, family, and sports. I have coached basketball and football for over 20 years. I have been married for 31 years and have three kids, two girls and one boy. My youngest likes softball and horseback riding, my oldest graduated from VT and played basketball and softball, and my son plays football at Towson University.
Tell us a surprising or fun fact about you.
I’m from a little town called Middleburg, Virginia, but I spent a part of my life in Sparta, Illinois, where the original In the Heat of the Night was filmed in 1960. My family was in the movie.
