Title – The Abilene AI Data Center Project – A Landmark Collaboration in Hyperscale Infrastructure

Project Overview
CBRE | Direct Line is engaged in a groundbreaking initiative in Abilene, TX, supporting a $500 billion effort to construct multiple AI data centers. The new 300MW+ build aims to establish the largest cluster of data centers in the world. This 3-year-long project plans for 10 to 20 facilities on the campus. CBRE | Direct Line acts as an extension of the hyperscale owner’s team, focusing on managing the low-voltage (LV) installation process.

Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of CBRE | Direct Line include:
• Comprehensive site management and oversight of LV installation.
• Quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes.
• Supervising validations and cable installations across multiple LV vendors.
• Daily reporting and management of operations on-site, with a 24/7 presence.

Challenges
This project presents unique challenges, particularly due to its scale, as it is the owner’s largest build to date. Key challenges include:
• Coordinating efforts among different LV vendors.
• Deploying and testing a new design and assisting the client’s onsite teams.
• Ensuring seamless collaboration between the client’s onsite teams and CBRE | Direct Line.

Solutions
To address these challenges, CBRE | Direct Line implemented several strategic solutions:
• Maintained close collaboration with owner teams to develop a new software package for enhanced daily tracking and logistical management.
• Established robust communication channels to streamline coordination among various stakeholders.
