A Day in the Life of Ruben Moore

What is your current role?
Meta Regional Safety Manager

How long have you been with Direct Line Global?
Two-and-a-half years

What kind of education and training did your career require?
I received my BS in business management, but the most important education of all is on-the-job experience! Additionally, I’ve received the following certifications:

  • OSHA 500
  • OSHA 510
  • OSHA 30-Hour
  • First Aid CPR

What do you think is needed to be successful in your role?
Support at all levels of management, communication at all levels of management, and accountability for everyone across the company.

What does a typical day look like for you at Direct Line?

Every day is different. A typical day includes attending company safety meetings to see what the sites are dealing with. I conduct new-hire safety orientations and safety walks in the field to identify and correct any hazards. Then, I attend any GC or customer meetings and site walks that are scheduled and conduct any safety training or refresher training that may be needed. There are weeks when I travel across the country for site visits. If new jobs are awarded to Direct Line, I ensure the site complies with all safety requirements. Additionally, I schedule several training courses throughout the year to stay in compliance with site, company, and OSHA regulations.

What would you like to say to someone interested in applying to work at Direct Line?
It’s a good opportunity to get into the industry. The industry is growing, and Direct Line is helping with that growth.

Tell us about your career path at Direct Line.
I spent five years in the Navy Seabees 95-2000. Then, I went straight into construction at Intel in Rio Rancho, NM, and Ocotillo, AZ. I worked in construction for 14 years in total with different construction companies. I also worked at a Google data center in Council Bluffs, IA, and a fuel refinery. Now, I will be completing my seventh year at Meta.

What inspired you to pursue a career in technology?
I landed in it by being in the construction industry.

What do you love most about what you do?
Traveling, meeting new people, and seeing different parts of the country I thought I would never see.

What are your interests outside of work?
Family BBQs every Sunday, riding my Harley, camping, hunting, fishing, and volunteering to coach baseball in my local town here in Los Lunas, NM.
